Wait at least 24 hours after painting your project before you apply transfers . This is a MUST! If you try to adhere a rub on transfer to semi dried paint, the transfer will not adhere properly, and you may damage your project.

Be sure the surface or your project is clean.

Use painter’s tape or masking tape to secure the clear transfer sheet in place before you start rubbing so the sheet stays firmly in place.

Work in sections and peel off the clear acetate gradually as you rub the transfer onto the surface.

Transfers are delicate, so peel off the clear acetate sheet slowly and carefully, checking for any air bubbles or missed spots.

If you find any air bubbles or missed spots, lay the clear top layer back down and rub again until the transfer is fully adhered.

Seal the transfer with a water-based top coat . Aussie Décor Transfers does not recommend applying wax to seal the transfer, as wax may contain petroleum derivatives which will affect the colour of the transfer design. If you want to apply wax to your project, do so over the top of a water based top coat.

A rub on transfer un-opened in it's original packaging will last for 12 months if stored properly. You should store your rub on transfers in a cool, dry, and dark place, away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture.

Aussie Décor Transfers recommend the ‘wet application’ method. You can watch a video that shows this method on our website in the decoupage section. You will need glue or a decoupage medium such as a top coat or gel medium, a mist spray bottle, along with the MOST IMPORTANT tool – Aussie’s felt edge decoupage application tool. This tool is a MUST!

Work in small sections and avoid creating bubbles or wrinkles by smoothing out your decoupage paper with the applicator tool.

Once the paper has been applied, let it dry for AT LEAST 24 hours.

Apply a water-based sealer to protect your paper.
